Thomas Brian Martic

Thomas Brian Martic, 79, of Mentor, Ohio, was born on January 13, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Euclid, after a brave three‑and‑a‑half‑year fight with illness. Tom’s life was marked by service and humility. After answering the call of duty, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968, earning two Purple Hearts and becoming a highly decorated Vietnam veteran. Following his military service, he devoted decades to delivering mail as a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier. He was a gentle, kind, and humble soul, quick‑witted enough to bring laughter to any gathering. Travel and spending time with family and friends were his favorite ways to enjoy life. He shared a loving marriage of 53 years with his beloved wife, Barbara, and was a proud father to Kelly (Brian) Shaffer and Michael (Adriana) and proud grandfather to Julianne and Patrick (fiancee Sophie) Shaffer. A celebration of Tom’s extraordinary life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Timberlake Village Hall, 11 East Shore Blvd., Timberlake, Ohio.
